Camera shots, angles and movements for our production

For our final production it was important for us to get all of the correct camera shots, angles and movements. For our filming the only piece of equipment that we used was the camera and tripod. therefore when we were filming we looked at what resources we had around us and thought about how we could use them. for example we climbed trees to get shots such as high angle shots and birds eye view. this then helped us to give our media production a range of different camera shots and angles.

To get different camera movements we also used the resources that we had around us. for example when filming a moving shot, we placed the camera on a skateboard and pushed it so that the camera would move along with the actress. this meant that this gave us a better effect for our final production

Shot list

This is a list of shots in which we used to help us when filming our media product. making a shot list was effective as this enabled us to be more organised as we then knew what shots we needed in each scene. it also help our filming go more smoothly and efficiently.

Poster analysis

Casting

When casting people for our media product, it was important for us to choose someone in which we thought would we best suited for our main character. We took photos of three capable candidates, and we all agreed on the same person in which we thought was the closest person to represent out character.

Lauren Hawtin: choosen actress

Production schedule

For our opening sequence it was important for us to have a sophisticated schedule of when we could film. we took in consideration of when other members of the team could and could not film. we then produced this production schedule to help us with our organisation of planning.

Finding a location

When finding a location it was important for us to find a location where it suited our film. we always wanted our character to go from a place where it went form the character to be in public for the character to then suddenly be isolated, which enabled her to look vulnerable.

therefore we visited a number of different locations such as Bicester, Stonesfield, Kirtlington and Yarnton. Out of all of these locations we found that Yarnton was the best location for our film. this is because when we visioned our film the locations in Yarnton were the closest to what we had in mind. this then made it easier for us to film the production as we only had to make some slight changes on to what shots we thought would work well with the location.

Special effects makeup

For our media product we did not to include many props. However, the main prop in which was key for our media product was the special effects make up on Ciaran's neck when the main female character discovers the body on the floor.

To create the special effects on Ciaran's neck we used things such as PVA glue and cotton pads to build the structure of the neck. then we used various paints to such as red, pink, white, brown and black, to give the neck the best possible effect. then we used fake blood to cover it all, this then enables it to give it the best result

it was important for us to use the right tools for this makeup as it then gave the right effect when it shows on the opening sequence and that it looks more realistic for the audience.

Production pitch

For our media product we made a power point presentation on what our initial ideas are on out media product. we presented this to our medias class and got some feedback on what they thought was good about our product and also what we could improve on. we took all of their ideas into consideration and made some adjustments to our media product to give us a better opportunity of having a successful opening sequence.

Silence of the lambs

This is an opening scene form the film 'silence of the lambs' this opening scene is one of the scenes where we got the inspiration of our opening scene from. we looked the mise en scene of this opening sequence. we thought about how the setting and the color of the setting made us feel and that this was key in out film top help the audience understand with the off and dull colors that there isn't something right about this scene and immediately makes the audience feel as if they are on edge.

another element that we also looked very closely at was the camera shots and movement, we looked and examined how the camera moves with the actress and that the shots make the actress seem vulnerable. therefore we also wanted to use similar camera shots and movements to have the same interpretation.
